It’s a thrilling time to be a biologist, and a critical time for ocean conservation. New field, laboratory, and quantitative techniques allow me to investigate exciting new aspects of marine mammal biology in hopes of protecting and restoring these incredible creatures and their habitats through policy-directed science and inspiring public science communication.

My research is interdisciplinary and very collaborative (see publications page), drawing on relationships with students and researchers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Southwest Fisheries Science Center, Wildlife Conservation Society, and the Sackler Institute for Comparative Genomics at the American Museum of Natural History.
